Legend has it that buckeyes were created by Gail Tabor in 1964, when she accidentally dipped peanut butter balls halfway in chocolate and noticed that they resembled buckeyes – the nuts of the Ohio state tree. Since the buckeye is also the mascot of the Ohio State University football team, Gail's treats took off as the signature candy of the sport and festive occasions all year long. Our version features rich, creamy and salty-sweet peanut butter centers inside Guittard milk chocolate shells, topped with crispy peanut butter wafers.
